chess----sport!!
yep--my kind of sport ( but merely as a spectator ! )
the queen's gambit is a 7 episode netflix miniseries about a female chess prodigy in the 1950's and 60's.. the story chronicles the life of the fictitious character, elizabeth harmon (anja taylor-joy) from the time she learns the game as an orphan clear up to the point where she defeats russian grand master, vasily borgov (marcin dorociński) to become the world champion.. female grandmasters are a rarity, so i was afraid the series was going to morph into an anti-male screed.
(it easily could have).
nearly every male character in the series, from the gruff but kindly william shaibel, the custodian at the orphanage who taught her the basics of the game and fronted her the money for her first tournament to vasily borgov himself is gracious and clearly delighted to play against a woman so talented in a sport dominated by men.. two notable exceptions were her pos adopted father who didn't care about her or his wife and a russian player who got a little salty when she kicked his butt in 21 moves.

to be a witness you had to accept whatever spiritual food was being dished out.
even if it didn’t make any sense, we were expected to believe.
now that we are out of the cult, do you find yourself a person who doesn’t just accept the status quo?
because i find it less complicated to tell the truth--i tend to accept what people tell me as being true--unless its blatantly obviously false.
are you sometimes dumbfounded at the direction the governing body takes?.
thousands of documents proving 607 bce is wrong, yet the gb sticks to the date, why?.
the generation that would not die, yet they continue by introducing an overlapping generation.. disfellowshipping at a time when everyone is leaving, not a good idea, yet they continue to disfellowship.. here is a video that addresses these questions.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbgeqhp9o9i.
back when i was "in"..i visited my parents KH--and a friend of mine from my earlier years was now the watchtower conductor. It was obvious he liked being in the limelight--up there on the stage--with all the congregation looking at him. I told him so afterwards--and he admitted i wasnt the first to tell him.
So is this what floats their boat--the hero worship--the adoring fans ?

what i dont "get"--is when i was in--as a teenager till 23--i never remembered a governing body..just knorr.. There were a few familiar names...mostly forgotten. Other names ive only read about on here in recent years--Swingle for instance. But back in the 60s--no governing body names.
i’ve noticed a change in family attitude recently, like there is just something extra on their mind.
i even had to call my brother to check if he was dying and too scared to tell me.
anyway, i saw a video last night my saying jws think we only have 12 months left before armageddon so thought maybe this is the reason for changes attitude.
he is an embarrassment.

lets hope this gets really promoted--armageddon within the next 12 months. Super. Just whats needed to really kick this cult in the head when--once again--it doesnt happen.
i found this experience on reddit today.
disfellowshipping never really bothered me.
i always thought it was just another way of getting rid of members that weren't welcome anymore.. but i've changed my mind.

I spent sunday with my son and his family. He was d/f 11 years ago and his mother has totally shunbed him ever since. She is unlikely to ever see her grand children. Shunning should be made a CRIME.

One old dear said to me"WE ARE SOO near the end" so i replied " yours or mine"
it just that the gb has a problem mixing biblical fact with goofy opinions.. but at least is isn't like the churces!.
.
is "truthmatters" the same person that was on here with several usernames recently ?
